Michael and I have both had some pretty significant changes in the past few months. Changed neighborhoods, apartments, and joined in on a new start up. A new neighborhood in Brooklyn can be very refreshing - especially with delicious coffee shops lurk right around the corner. The amount of light in our new one bedroom is fantastic - something we have quickly taken advantage of...

A Zen New Year
A new year is already upon us, and while I kept my resolution short and sweet (floss regularly), we mutually wished for a calm and successful third year in New York. What better place to wish for peace and serenity than the beach. Spoiled by a mildly sunny New Years afternoon, we walked the empty of beaches of Chatham reflecting on the wonderful people in our lives and the good fortune to come. ...

New Years Friendship
Our New Years was spent with some good friends by a fire place with chocolate covered almonds and a goodie bag of crafts. While we didn’t get much past a 15 foot radius of the couch that day, we did get to make some pretty dang cute bracelets and pom-poms. While our color choices have definitely changed since the third grade (neon purple and yellow to taupe and off-white) the charm is all...

Bacon-infused Bloody Marys
And how do you know when you are on vacation? Bacon bloody Marys! Extra spicy, brimming with fresh veggies, this is one definite indicator that your afternoon is free.

The Unconventional Gift Guide
The holidays are finally over, and might I say - good golly! While I can notoriously be a little Scrooge once the Motown Christmas songs hit the radio stations on Black Friday - I can usually bite the bullet around the 23rd, throw my hands up, and call it Holiday time. Holiday traffic, completely desperate Bridge and Tunnel shoppers flocking the city, and that absolutely pressing little voice in...

100 Year Old House
This past weekend we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating an early family Christmas in the historic town of Wrentham Massachusetts - the hub of my mothers extended family.  Nestled in this beautiful town is a gem of a house, right where we got to open premature presents under a fresh cut tree. The house’s name is “Mellowood” - yes, houses used to have names back then...

A Friendship Brunch
This past Thanksgiving - we did have one awesome morning to give thanks for. It was an annual “Friendship Brunch”, hosted by some dear old friends of my own hometown. Definitely a reunion of sorts, I have not seen some these people for over five years. Med School, Law School, Aeronautical Engineering - this is not a group to fuck with. Talk about shaping our future…Let’s...

Central Park is on Fire
Literally - the ground, trees, compost heaps. Everything is brilliant shades of warm delicious fall. Hot coco in hand and the sky darkening at 4pm, we got a last chance to lay around in the leaves and contemplate the coming winter.

Super Lame Parents
1/3 Of All Homeless Teenagers in Cities Are Gay In NYC 4,000 Homeless Teenagers overwhelmingly identify as LGBT Kicked out of their homes, forced to leave their towns, or caught in such hateful and discriminatory situations, gay teenagers are fleeing to cities only to live on the streets. With an increase of gays in the media and gay marriage gaining support across the country, kids are coming...

The Making of a Fabulous Prosthetic
One of our super awesome friends has a secret double life - the life of a parts model. Beautiful face, hands, legs, hair, smile - all complimented by a warm and caring personality. Meet Samantha. She recently had her legs casted for the 20th annviersary Christian Louboutin display in the Barneys windows uptown. Standing still in plaster for hours and hours paid off - these are legs to remember! ...

Swig O' Nature
Every time we travel upstate to visit with our parents, we always try to spend some quality time in the woods to tucker out the pups. The leaves this fall have been caught in some type of identity crisis. While some are on the ground already dead and rotten, others are still green, and a lucky few are blazing red/orange/gold. Either way, we are quickly approaching needing to layer on gloves and...

Recycled Pumpkin Pie
Have a pumpkin gathering dust in your window sill that could only be thrown out or smashed joyfully into the sidewalk? We did - but instead took the pie approach! Scooped, roasted, peeled, mashed, pureed, and eventually turned into a yummy spice filled dream… The smell of freshly baking pumpkin in the over pairs nicely with a fall IPA - but again, what doesn’t?

Pit Stop in Woodstock
On our way back to the city last weekend, sitting in the front seat sipping on coffee and “ooooing” over all the leaves, we made an impulse sharp turn and had lunch in Woodstock. A chilly fall morning, we ambled around poking in the shops and surveying the usual prostesters prostesting something that must be important. Thanks Woodstock for staying yourself, you make quite an interesting...

An October Fest of Sorts
Last Saturday we piled into the jeep with some amazing friends and a giant bag of goodies from Dough. A ninety minute drive north through some slowly changing foliage found us at Fishkill Farms in Putnam county (oh how fitting…). While it may have been a couple weeks shy for peak leaves, we did see some beautiful trees along the way, and most certainly made up for any lacking fall feelings...

A Mobile Park
Yes - we are all completely starved for nature in NYC. Literally clutching parched throats and staggering down the sidewalks, we are just begging for trees, flowers, anything green and in abundance.  So it is understandable when we are completely surprised with a mobile park in our neighborhood. Silver, shiny, and filled with potted plants - this park doesn’t quite quench our thirst, but...

Finally a forecast we can deal with - we are fall kids. This is without a doubt our favorite season. Favorite time to dress, favorite time to sip coffee in the morning, favorite time to walk the streets of New York. Let the skin get pale, let the roots grow out, lets put the legs away and start throwing on layers and layers of color…

More Highline Please!
This past weekend I did one of my all time favorite NY activities with my good friend Adam - walk the Highline and gorge out at Chelsea market right after. Amidst a city of garbage bags all over the streets and putrid puddles collecting on every corner, it always shocks me to see a place of perfectly presevrved beauty and design outdoors in New York. The first time that I had been on since the...
