In NYC 4,000 Homeless Teenagers overwhelmingly identify as LGBT
Kicked out of their homes, forced to leave their towns, or caught in such hateful and discriminatory situations, gay teenagers are fleeing to cities only to live on the streets.
With an increase of gays in the media and gay marriage gaining support across the country, kids are coming out at younger and younger ages. So hopeful and proud to have found out who they are, these kids turn to their parents for guidance and acceptance.
Yet their parents can’t act as parents. Unable to deal with the situation, unwilling to change, or tied up in angry religions - they believe sending their children away is the best option.
Michael and I are so fortunate to have come from such loving and accepting families. We hope that everyone we reach to in our lives, who hear our story, can spread the kindness and love we have received.
